Considering its natural beauties, the abundance of waters with solomoid – noble fish species and attractive locations is a true paradise for fishers.
The fishing zone is inhabited mostly by salmonid fish species: grayling, brown trout, and hucho hucho.
The largest part of the fish stock makes grayling.
If you decide to go fishing in Montenegro, you should know that those rivers are not the usual rivers fishermen are used to. These are the cleanest rivers in Europe! It is safe to even drink water from the very flow of some of the rivers.
Tara River Canyon is the second deepest in the world and its water is one of the cleanest on the continent of Europe, and therefore refers to as “The Tear of Europe”. The larger part of Tara (including the canyon) is in UNESCO-s world heritage.

After arriving at the airport and picking up a rental car, drive towards Žabljak and your accommodation. You check-in and then set off on a discovery to get a first feel for the city and the country. Žabljak is a small city of great importance located in the northern area of Montenegro, as part of the spacious Durmitor and Sinjajevina plateaus.
You will visit the town’s streets, enjoy dining at your cosy hotel’s restaurant, where you will taste the specialities of this mountain area, that this town is known for.

Today begins your six-day fly fishing adventure on the Tara River! Every day you will explore different parts of the river according to the plan and program set by the National Park.
Parts of the river Tara belongs to National Parks Durmitor and Biogradska Gora and is under special protection. These parts of Tara are very suitable for fishing.
Fishing on river Tara requires a daily fishing permit according to the fishing regulations and fishing is allowed only with artificial lures.
The most common types of fish are:
Brook trout (Salmo trutta fario) – approximate weight of 0.5 to 5 kg, 10 kg.
Danube salmon (Hucho hucho) -15-20 kg, 40 kg.
Grayling (Thymallus thymallus) -0 0.3-2 kg.

The last day of this fishing week is simply the day of departure without any organized activities. After you check out of the hotel, ride towards the airport and return home.
